Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Gets first update

The Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung’s newest premium offering, has upgraded hardware compared to its predecessor. There have been numerous reports of problems with applications and system functions, though. Due to this, Samsung has started distributing the initial update that fixes some of these common problems.

Among other things, the update seeks to fix common problems like inaccurate display colors and underperforming cameras.

South Korea, the home nation of Samsung, is now rolling out the first update for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, with build number S928NKSU1AXB5. The initial upgrade is around 500 MB in size. Users in other regions should be able to access the update by the end of this month, according to Samsung’s announcement page.

Image quality has been improved by adjusting the brightness when shooting backlit in high-pixel mode.

In photo mode preview, the brightness of dark areas in indoor environments has been increased and the sharpness of people has been smoothly improved. (Galaxy S24 Ultra Only)
Expression has been improved by additionally applying color data in food mode.
Colors have been improved by adjusting saturation and white balance in night mode.
Image quality has been improved when zooming in on the gallery after shooting a new format DNG in the Expert RAW app.

Note: Some of the mentioned camera changes may not be available in the first update.

Along with the important fixes, the new update also upgrades the Android security patch level to February 2024.

The first OTA update for the Galaxy S24 Ultra has started rolling out, beginning with South Korea. If you own a Galaxy S24 Ultra, be sure to regularly check the Software Update section in Settings for this new update, which should be arriving within the next few days. Additionally, it’s advisable to back up your data before installing the update.
