Due to its 2021 release, the Fairphone 4 now runs Android 11. Android 13 gets its second major update. The company’s latest release says this isn’t the last major update. The Fairphone 4 may get Android 15, but not soon.

On Twitter, Fairphone released the Android 13 update for the Fairphone 4 (X). In weeks, everyone will have access to the deployment, which has begun. The Tweet is brief, but the device support page has more details.

Welcome, late or not: The 2021 Fairphone 4 received an Android 13 update from Amsterdam-based Fairphone. Users will be relieved when the update arrives, albeit late.

Two years old, this phone has Android 11 from 2021. So, Android 13 gets its second major update. The company’s latest announcement says this isn’t the last major change. The Fairphone 4 can support Android 15, but not soon.

Fairphone announced the Fairphone 4 (X) Android 13 upgrade on Twitter. Everyone will have access to it in the coming weeks after the rollout. The Tweet is brief, but the device support website has more information, as usual.

The Android 13 update for Fairphone 4 comes with build version TP1V.C.073 and August 2023 Security patch. And since its a major update, it weighs more than a GB. The update includes new features such as Dynamic theme which changes the icon colors and more to the color matching with the wallpaper, New media controls with dancing progress bar, Per-app language preference and many other features of Android 13. The Android 13 update for Fairphone is rolling out in batches. So if you haven’t received the update yet, you will receive it soon in the upcoming weeks. You can check for the update manually from the Software Update page in Settings. Before updating your phone make sure to charge it to at least 50% and also take a backup of important data.
