The OnePlus 8 series is without a doubt one of the most popular lineups ever released by OnePlus. There are three devices in the lineup: the OnePlus 8, the OnePlus 8 Pro, and the OnePlus 8T. It was recently reported that the OnePlus 8 lineup is now receiving stable ColorOS 13, which is based on Android 13. The Chinese version of the devices has already begun to receive the update.
ITHome on Tuesday reported that the OnePlus 8 lineup of smartphones has started receiving the Android 13-based ColorOS 13 update. According to the source, this update is 5.72 GB in size, runs Android 13, and focuses on adding aquatic design, which creates a fresh experience. It offers a choice of screen displays, maximizes smart office security and privacy, and the user interface (UI) creates a clean and organized visual experience.
If you own the OnePlus 8 series phone, then you may know that usually, OnePlus confirmed the update rollouts on its community forum. But at the time of writing, the company has not confirmed it officially, instead, there are some users allegedly receiving the new update with a bunch of new features. As per the details shared by the users, the update is rolling with F.13 build number to all three models.
On August 30 of this year, during the OPPO Developer Conference 2022, ColorOS was formally introduced. Major updates to the UI have just been made, including an improved quantum animation engine, support for new widgets on the home screen, and revamped notification panels and icons. New privacy and security-related enhancements are also included in the UI overhaul. Additionally, the newly unveiled UI must support OPPO’s exclusive Omojis and spatial audio.
It’s worth noting that OnePlus phones in China run the same version of ColorOS as OPPO phones. On the global market, smartphones run OxygenOS, which is essentially ColorOS with a few minor tweaks here and there. As the Android 13 rollout for the OnePlus 8 series has begun in the Chinese market, we anticipate that worldwide smartphones will receive the upgrade in the coming weeks.
Talking about the features, then the changelog is not available to us. But the update will bring a stack of new features to the smartphone, the feature list includes Aquamorphic design elements to the OS, a new world clock widget for the home screen, a Quantum Animation Engine 4.0 upgrade, the ability to create large folders on the home screen, media playback control optimization to the Quick Settings, new markup tools for screenshot editing, sidebar toolbox for managing floating window apps, a number of optimizations for Always-On display, HyperBoost GPA 4.0 for better gaming performance, and more.
Whether you own the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, or OnePlus 8T you can navigate to the Software upgrades settings and check if there’s a new update available or not. In case the update is not available yet, you can wait for a few days. OnePlus usually releases major upgrades in a staged manner.
If you are in a hurry, then you can upgrade your phone manually using the OnePlus updater app, then sideload it using the local upgrade method. Before upgrading make sure to take a backup of important data. Also, make sure to charge your smartphone to at least 30%.
