Many OEMs now offer the memory expansion capability on their smartphones, as some of you may be acquainted. If you own a Xiaomi phone, you’re in luck since it has a feature that allows you to add virtual RAM from your storage. If your device supports Memory Extension, you can follow our instructions to enable it.

If you’re not sure if your Xiaomi phone is eligible for Memory Extension, you can find out right here. The following is a list of Xiaomi phones that are qualified for Memory Extension.

‘Memory Extension’ is the name of Xiaomi’s Memory Expansion function. Any phone can benefit from this function. With one of the MIUI 12.5 releases, Xiaomi implemented this capability. Many Xiaomi devices already have the Memory Extension capability, and more will be added in the near future.

Now that you’re here, I’m assuming you’re familiar with the notion of Memory Extension. If you’re not familiar with the functionality, here’s a quick rundown. Memory Extension on Xiaomi allows users to add 1GB, 2GB, or 3GB of RAM to the RAM currently on their phones by taking up storage space. The quantity of RAM you can use is determined by your internal storage. In our Memory Extension guide, we go through it in great detail.

Memory Extension is a feature that is only available on MIUI 12.5 or later, so you can rule out phones that are still on MIUI 12 or before. The following list may be missing some devices, but we will update it as soon as we receive confirmation.

If you’ve already updated to MIUI 12.5 and want to see if the Memory Extension functionality is available on your Xiaomi phone, follow these steps:

Go to Additional Settings > Memory Extension in Settings. That’s all there is to it; your feature is complete. If it is, you can easily add a certain amount of RAM to improve performance. If not, you can always wait for future upgrades.
