Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 29505 Update brings 3D Emojis

Canary Channel Windows Insiders can now check for an updated Insider Preview build. Indeed, a new preview update for Windows 11 has been made available by Microsoft. The version number of the current update is 25905 as of this writing. A lot of the features may or may not function as you expect since this is an upgrade for Insiders on the Canary Channel. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of the enhancements made available by the latest Canary Channel release.

There is always a watermark in the lower right corner of the screen, as is the case with Insider builds. Canary Channel insiders will see that the watermark has reverted from ZN_RELEASE to RS_PRELEASE. However, that’s not the only thing that’s been updated. Let’s inspect the modifications and new additions to the Canary Channel Insider Preview.

Dev Drive

The Dev Channel was the first to get access to this new function. The purpose of the brand-new storage volume known as “Dev Drive” is to speed up the execution of essential developer tasks. Built on top of the Resilient File System, it includes various enhancements to the underlying file system that improves performance for developer-centric tools, processes, and applications.

Backup and Restore Improvements

You should always back up your Windows 11 PC before installing any new software, in case the new program causes problems and you need to roll back to an earlier point in time. With this release, you may now import your previous Windows PC’s settings and restore your pinned apps with the new Windows backup program.

Dynamic Lighting

You may control the RGB of all your external devices that are hooked up to your Windows 11 PC with the help of Dynamic Lighting. This frees you from the need to utilize separate software to customize the RGB lighting effects of your keyboard, mouse, cabinet fans, and anything else that supports it. Microsoft is collaborating with numerous original equipment manufacturers and original design manufacturers to have this functionality pre-installed in Windows 11.

Rust in Windows Kernel

Particularly when executing C or C++ code, extra security and dependability are required. We should expect to see more Rust implementation in future Windows 11 updates now that the win32base_rs.sys code is included in the current update. At this time, only a select group of Insiders on the Canary Channel can get the update.

Arm32 UWMP Apps Lose Support

When you update to Windows 11, any arm32 apps or programs you have installed will stop working. However, arm64 software will still run without a hitch. The Microsoft Store will automatically update Arm32 apps to a version that works with your installation of Windows 11.

Previously, the PAA could only end sessions if the user was currently logged in. You can now reset the password, sign out of the managed account, and close any open applications thanks to the recently added functionality in the PAA. Emojis

Some apps and browsers will soon support Windows’ new ability to render emoji with a more detailed, 3D-like appearance thanks to our updated colour font format, COLRv1. Customers have asked for a certain aesthetic, and these emoji use gradients to deliver it. The new emoji will help you express yourself better in your messages.

Zune

Last month, we temporarily re-launched Zune.net in honour of Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3. With this Canary Channel build, we also fixed an issue that prevented users from installing the original Zune drivers on Windows 11. Your (completely unsupported and yet defunct) Zune should now function more smoothly on Windows 11. All Windows 11 users will eventually receive the update once it has made its way via the Insider Channels.

Known Issues

[NEW] This build will not be offered to ASUS devices or PCs with ASUS motherboards.
[NEW] Ethernet-connected devices may lose network connectivity after updating to this build. Unplugging the ethernet cable and re-plugging the cable in should resolve the issue.
