Canary Channel Windows Insiders can now check for an updated Insider Preview build. Indeed, a new preview update for Windows 11 has been made available by Microsoft. The version number of the current update is 25905 as of this writing. A lot of the features may or may not function as you expect since this is an upgrade for Insiders on the Canary Channel. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of the enhancements made available by the latest Canary Channel release.

There is always a watermark in the lower right corner of the screen, as is the case with Insider builds. Canary Channel insiders will see that the watermark has reverted from ZN_RELEASE to RS_PRELEASE. However, that’s not the only thing that’s been updated. Some apps and browsers will soon support Windows’ new ability to render emoji with a more detailed, 3D-like appearance thanks to our updated colour font format, COLRv1. Customers have asked for a certain aesthetic, and these emoji use gradients to deliver it. The new emoji will help you express yourself better in your messages.

Zune

Last month, we temporarily re-launched Zune.net in honour of Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3. With this Canary Channel build, we also fixed an issue that prevented users from installing the original Zune drivers on Windows 11. Your (completely unsupported and yet defunct) Zune should now function more smoothly on Windows 11. All Windows 11 users will eventually receive the update once it has made its way via the Insider Channels.

Known Issues

  • [NEW] This build will not be offered to ASUS devices or PCs with ASUS motherboards.
  • [NEW] Ethernet-connected devices may lose network connectivity after updating to this build. Unplugging the ethernet cable and re-plugging the cable in should resolve the issue.
