Want to connect your Samsung device to a hotspot but don’t know the password? If you own a Samsung phone, you can use this comprehensive guide to discover hotspot credentials.
Mobile hotspots, which we rely on when traditional WiFi is unavailable, perform their intended function admirably. If you don’t have a WiFi device, then using a hotspot is a good option.
Best practices for hotspot use include protecting it with a password and not sharing the password with anyone you don’t know. The dangers of sloppy safety measures might not sink in until we become victims ourselves. However, as you may know, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so it’s best to play it safe.
How to Find Hotspot Password on Samsung
By default, Samsung sets up a password for the wireless network. So, your hotspot will have a default password even if you can’t remember what it is. In order to communicate the password, you must know it. The same process works for recovering the Samsung hotspot password even if you set it a long time ago and have since forgotten it.
The Easy Way
Step 1: On your Samsung phone, swipe down from the top to open the Notification panel.
Step 2: Now swipe down again to access Quick Settings.
Step 3: Look for the Mobile Hotspot icon. Long press on the icon. It will take you to the Mobile Hotspot page.
Step 4: Here you will find your Samsung device hotspot details including the Password.
The Long Way
Step 1:Â Open Settings on your Samsung phone.
Step 2: Look for the Connections option and open it.
Step 3: From various connection options, open Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
Step 4: Now open Mobile Hotspot.
Step 5: Here you can see your Hotspot Password.
It’s quite easy to find the hotspot password on Samsung phones. But what if you don’t like the default password as it is going to be the random password that is difficult to remember? Well in that case you can set up your own hotspot password.
How to Change Hotspot Password on Samsung
Step 1: Open Settings on your Samsung phone.
Step 2: Go to Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
Step 3: Open Mobile Hotspot settings followed by Configure.
Step 4: Now under Password, set the password of your choice and then tap the Save button.
It will restart the hotspot if it is enabled. Now you can use the new hotspot password, but remember that the devices that were connected to your hotspot will be disconnected as you need to connect them again with the new password.
Note:Â Keep the Hotspot password tough so that other users can not connect to your hotspot without permission. Set the Band to 5 GHz which is better than 2.4 GHz in terms of range and speed.
How to Remove Password from Hotspot
If you want to keep your Hotspot open so that anyone who wants can connect to your Hotspot, then you can remove the password. Follow these steps to remove the hotspot password:
Step 1: Open Settings and navigate to Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethring.
Step 2: Now open Mobile Hotspot settings.
Step 3: Tap the configure button and then tap the Security option.
Step 4: From the menu choose Open, and then tap Save button.
That’s it, your Mobile hotspot no longer requires a password. Anyone within range of your open hotspot can join it until the maximum number of connected devices is reached.
If you forget your hotspot’s password, you can reset it by repeating the steps above, but this time selecting a different security setting in the menu then “Open.”
