Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the next update on the chipset market, which has been plagued by issues with the Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets, will release the next generation flagship chipset in the latter half of this year. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 launch date, which will offer much greater performance than its predecessor, has been set.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Release date
Qualcomm’s flagship chipsets are unveiled every year at the Snapdragon Summit in November. Along with the Hawaii launch, mid-range chipsets may be announced. The new Snapdragon flagship processor will be introduced from November 15-17 this year, followed by the announcement of new products by manufacturers. Following the release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in November, the new Xiaomi 13 series will be available in December.
Who makes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2?
Over the last two years, Qualcomm has had a serious issue with chipsets made by Samsung. Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 models featured a good cooling mechanism, the chipset was severely throttled under load, and performance suffered as a result. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 that was introduced in June is quite similar to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, however, it is made by TSMC and hence significantly more reliable. Like the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be produced by TSMC.
Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset is expected to be dubbed SM8550. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, like the 8 Gen 1 and 8+ Gen 1, will use 4nm manufacturing technology and will have faster clock rates and a stronger 5G modem than its predecessor. Furthermore, with the next-generation chipset, the ISP is predicted to increase dramatically.
