Nothing Phone 1 receive Nothing OS 3.0 (Android 15) update

Nothing has released the stable Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 update for Phone 1. With this release, the company has now rolled out the update for all its devices.

The stable Android 15 update was already available for the Nothing Phone 2a, Nothing Phone 2a Plus, and Nothing Phone 2. Additionally, the update is now rolling out to the two remaining devices, the Nothing Phone 1 and CMF Phone 1.

Nothing Phone 1 Specs

Nothing phone (1) has been officially announced on July 12, 2022. The size of the device is 6.55 inches OLED capacitive touchscreen. The dimension of the device is 159.2 x 75.8 x 8.3 mm and it weighs 193.5 grams. The resolution of the screen is 1080 x 2400 pixels and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The smartphone runs on the Android 12 + Nothing OS operating system. The internal storage is 128 GB and 256 GB with 8 GB and 12 GB RAM options. Nothing phone (1) consists of a dual camera: 50 MP (wide) + 50 MP (ultrawide) camera while on the front there is a single 16 MP (wide) camera.

The device is available in White and Black. The smartphone is fueled with a non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery + Fast charging 33W + Wireless charging 15W + Reverse wireless charging 5W + Power Delivery 3.0 + Quick Charge 4.0.

It features Bluetooth 5.2, A-GPS. Up to dual-band: GLONASS (1), BDS (2), GALILEO (1), QZSS (1), and Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm SM7325-AE Snapdragon 778G+ 5G Octa-core processor while GPU is Adreno 642L.

It also supports Dual SIM, multiple LED lights on the back (notifications, charging progress, camera fill light) and Blinking red light on the back (video recording indicator). The sensors include optical under display fingerprint, accelerometer, proximity, gyro, and compass.

The stable Android 15 update for the Nothing Phone 1 is rolling out with build number V3.0-250108-1938. The size of the update will depend on your previous build.

Nothing Phone 1 Android 15 Update – What’s New

Talking about the new features, both the phones share nearly the same changelog. Both devices get a bunch of new features like new lock screen customization, AI-powered Smart Drawer, and more. Unfortunately, Circle to Search is not available yet. Here is the official changelog.

Shared Widgets

  • Use widgets to link up with friends and family. See another person’s widgets displayed on your home screen and interact with each other through reactions. A new way to stay connected.
  • Shared Widgets are currently only supported between Nothing devices. And only Photo Widgets (square) can be shared. We are rapidly developing support for other widgets, so stay tuned!

Lock screen

  • Introduced new lock screen customisation page. Access by long-pressing the lock screen or via the Customisation page.
  • Choose from a range of new Clock face styles.
  • Expanded widget space, allowing you to place more widgets on your lock screen.

New app drawer style

  • Added AI-powered Smart Drawer to automatically categorise your apps into folders, keeping your app drawer organised and making apps easy to find.
  • Now you can pin your favourite apps to the top of the app drawer for quick access to your favourite apps.

Enhanced pop-up view

  • Drag the pop-up view to any position on the screen, for convenient multitasking.
  • Easily resize the pop-up view by dragging the bottom corners.
  • Pin the pop-up view on the screen edge, for speedy access.
  • Swipe down incoming notifications to enter the pop-up view. Allows you to quickly view information without leaving your current app. Enable via Settings > Special features > Pop-up view.

Elevated design

  • Redesigned Quick Settings, and an optimised editing experience. Allows you to effortlessly tailor your shortcuts to your preferences.
  • Redesigned widget library. Choose your favourite Nothing Widgets or swipe left to browse third-party widgets.
  • Enhanced Settings with updated UI visuals. Network & Internet and Bluetooth options now display current connection.
  • New Dot animation for fingerprint unlocking and charging.

Other improvements

  • Allow AI to learn your usage habits and prioritise your frequently used apps. Keeps them active for longer intelligently for a smoother and more efficient experience.
  • Added support for auto-archive function. Automatically frees up storage space without removing apps or data from your device.
  • New partial screen sharing, so you can record just an app window rather than the entire screen.
  • Updated setup wizard to version 3.0 for a smoother introduction.
  • Enabled predictive back animations for apps that have opted in.

The stable Nothing OS 3.0 update is rolling out in batches. If you have an eligible device, you will receive it via OTA. You can check for the update in Settings manually to ensure your device is running the latest build.

Before installing the update, make sure to back up your data and charge your phone to at least 50%.
