Moto G45 Android 15 Update: What's New and Improved

Motorola is doing well with the Android 15 rollout. Today, the American smartphone maker has pushed the anticipated Moto G45 Android 15 update to Moto G45.

The update is rolling out in a staged manner with V1UG35H.75-14 firmware version. Several users across Brazil and India have received the update, a broader rollout should commence in a matter of time.

The Moto G45 Android 15 update weighs around 1.9GB in download size. Currently, the update is available to a small set of users, but it will be available to everyone in the coming days.

New Features in Moto G45 Android 15 Update

Motorola kicks off the Moto G45 Android 15 update with a bunch of new features, including the new lock screen customization features, updated quick panel, Gen AI emojis, new emoji stickers, improved connections, and more.

Improved Connections and Sharing

  • Control more Bluetooth features from quick settings:
    • Turn Bluetooth on or off
    • Pair a new device
    • Switch paired devices
    • See remaining battery on paired devices
    • Disconnect or forget a paired device
    • For a paired device, change sound settings and access to contacts and history
  • Use satellite messaging when mobile network is unavailable:
    • Now, even when your mobile network is unavailable, you can send SMS. Your phone will automatically connect to a satellite, letting you send text messages.
  • Use one-tap hotspot to connect devices with the same Google account:
    • If your phone and the device you want to connect to its hotspot are using the same Google account, you no longer need to enter a password to connect.

Accessibility Improvements

  • Control hearing devices from quick settings:
    • Quick settings now have a tile to control hearing devices. Tap the tile to peek at hearing device battery levels, change device settings, and turn other audio features like Live Caption on or off.
    • You can also switch between preset sound profiles for different environments like Restaurants, Work, TV, Outdoors, and All-round.
  • Get more vision support:
    • It’s easier to read using font scaling that prevents text from being too large.
    • Connect modern refreshable Braille displays to your phone’s screen reader over USB or Bluetooth with Braille Display HID support.

Security Enhancements

  • Find powered-off phones and connected accessories:
    • Locate your phone even when offline, and track headphones, tracker tags, and other compatible devices even when powered off.
  • Improved authentication:
    • To reduce phone theft attacks, adaptive authentication now locks the screen after 5 failed attempts (PIN or biometrics).
    • For Android 15 apps, access saved passwords using facial recognition, a fingerprint, or your screen lock for seamless logins.

Other Improvements

  • Larger thumbnails in photo picker: Thumbnails of photos and videos are now easier to see and select for sharing.
  • New emoji stickers: Express your musical self with new Emoji Kitchen stickers like the disco ball and headphones.
  • Gen-AI emojis: Create customized emoji with a wider range of expressions, styles, or themes with Gen-AI. Remix your favorite emoji and share them from Gboard as stickers.

How to Get the Moto G45 Android 15 Update

Whether you own the Moto G45, you may have already received the OTA notification. If you missed the notification, you can manually check for new updates by navigating to Settings > System updates > Check for system updates.
