iQOO 12 gets FuntouchOS 15 (Android 15) update internationally

The iQOO 12 is now running Android 15 with FuntouchOS 15 update on top, following the introduction of the vivo X Fold3 Pro earlier today. This refers to the worldwide iQOO 12, not the Chinese variant.

The update is available over-the-air (though you may need to manually check for it) as a 2.5GB download, so make sure you download it on a fast enough network. After installation, you will be running software version PD2307CF_EX_A_15.1.9.1.W20. Despite the fact that November has already arrived, the update includes the October security patch level.

The changelog is positively gigantic, so we’ve only shared about 30% of it in the screenshots above. Suffice it to say, there are a lot of changes – nothing huge per se, but a lot of welcome little adjustments and improvements.

You get a priority scheduling algorithm that intelligently allocates resources based on actual requirements, thus improving smoothness, a rapid dynamic effect engine for the same purpose, and new system dynamic effects featuring a new Origin animation which “incorporates principles from human factors research and integrates the natural laws of the physical world into the dynamic effect design”.

There are many new wallpapers, both static and immersive ones, you can set local videos as live wallpapers now, you can have large folders on your home screens, there are new clock widgets, Ultra Game Mode comes with multiple quick setting options, screenshot capture is improved, the Smart sidebar now has access to Google Lens for quick translations of on-screen content, Notes has more text editing tools and the ability to export in Word format, and Settings comes with better categorization and hierarchies.

You can drag a split-screen to the middle of the screen to switch to a small window, and drag a small window to the edge of an app to switch to split-screen, while the startup gestures for split-screen and small window modes have been optimized. You can swipe up from the bottom to the upper left or right corner to quickly enter split screen or small window mode.

Now it’s time for AI. Live Transcribe is present, as is Circle to Search, and the Albums app gets Cleanup suggestions and AI erase to get rid of unwanted things or people in your photos.

iQOO 12 Features:

iQOO 12 has been officially announced on Nov. 7, 2023. The display features a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen that has 453 PPI density while it provides a resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm SM8650-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Octa-core processor while the GPU is Adreno 750. It is packed with 12 GB, 16 GB RAM with 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB internal storage.

The smartphone features a triple camera on the rear side that consists of 50 MP (wide) + 16 MP (periscope telephoto) + 50 MP (ultrawide) while on the front there is a single camera of 16 MP (wide). The device is fueled with a non-removable Li-Po 4880 mAh battery + 120W wired.

Vivo iQOO 12 runs on the Android 13 + Funtouch 14 (International), OriginOS 4 (China) operating system. The smartphone features Bluetooth 5.4, GPS (L1+L5), GLONASS (G1), BDS (B1I+B1c+B2a), GALILEO (E1+E5a), QZSS (L1+L5), NFC and USB Type-C 2.0, OTG. The sensors such as an under-display, optical fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and color spectrum.
