iOS 18.5 Update Now Available for Public

The fifth big release of iOS 18, officially titled the iOS 18.5 update, is now available to the public. This new release is compatible with all iOS 18-supported iPhones, including models from iPhone Xr and newer.

Apple also rolled out additional updates, including iPadOS 18.5, watchOS 11.5, tvOS 18.5, macOS Sequoia 15.5, macOS Sonoma 14.7.6, macOS Ventura 13.7.6, and visionOS 2.5, alongside the iOS 18.5 update.

The iOS 18.5 update carries the build number 22F76, which differs from the release candidate (RC) build released last week. While RC versions are often identical to the public release, this one is an exception. The update size varies depending on your iPhone model and current build.

Apple has already begun shifting its development focus to iOS 19, with developer beta testing expected to start soon. As a result, the iOS 18.5 update doesn’t deliver major changes—but it does include some useful enhancements. New features include refreshed Pride wallpapers, support for carrier-provided satellite services on iPhone 13 models, and more. You can check the full changelog below.

What’s New in the iOS 18.5 Update

This iOS 18.5 update includes the following improvements and bug fixes:

  • A new Pride Harmony wallpaper

  • Parents get notifications when the Screen Time passcode is used on a child’s device

  • “Buy with iPhone” is now available for Apple TV app content purchases on third-party devices

  • Fixes for the Apple Vision Pro app displaying a black screen

  • Satellite support now available via carrier services on all iPhone 13 models

If your iPhone supports iOS 18, you should see the iOS 18.5 update in your settings. Just head to Settings > General > Software Update to check and install it.

Since the public build differs from the release candidate, those using the RC build can disable beta updates to receive the official iOS 18.5 update.

Final Steps Before Installing the iOS 18.5 Update

Before installing the iOS 18.5 update, make sure to back up your important data. This ensures that you can recover your files in case something goes wrong during the update process.
