Apple released iOS 17 to the public last week after putting out the iOS-17 Release Candidate. iOS-17 is a major update, and there are many good reasons to install it on the first day it’s available. If you want to know about all of iOS 17’s highlights, we’ve already made a list.
Most of the time, Apple releases big iOS updates between the launch of a new iPhone and when it goes on sale. The same is true for iOS-17 since the iPhone 15 will be released in a few days.
iPhone users haven’t had a chance to try something new in a while. I’m talking about people who are currently using iOS 16 since beta users have already had a chance to try out iOS 17’s new features.
Apple also released new watchOS 10, tvOS 17, and HomePod 17 along with iOS-17 and iPadOS 17 today. The build number for both iOS-17 and iPad OS 17 is 21A329. The build number is the same as the build number for the Release Candidate build that was given to beta users last week. Let’s take a look at the phones that will be able to get the update.

The new iOS-17 update adds a lot of new features, like the new Standby Mode, which makes the best use of the iPhone when the user isn’t using it. There is also support for interactive widgets, which means you can take actions straight from widgets that support them. iOS-17 also has Personalised Contact Posters, Live Voicemail, the ability to use Stickers anywhere, offline maps, the ability to make more than one profile in Safari, new backgrounds, and a lot more. You can see a full list of changes in the iOS 17 Release Notes.
iOS 17 is available for all smartphones that can run it. If you have an iPhone that can run iOS 17, the Software Update page makes it easy to load it. Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install to get the latest version. But if you installed the iOS-17 release candidate build last week, you won’t get the update. Since iOS 17 is the same as the release candidate build, you don’t need to update to iOS-17. On the software update page, you can turn off Beta if you want to switch to the official version.
