How to force the search for updates on your Xiaomi Phones

HyperOS 2 is in full rollout. In recent days, Xiaomi has been updating several of its smartphones, not only its latest models like the Xiaomi 14 but also cheaper ones like the Redmi 12 or the Redmi Note 13 4G .

Many of you have asked us when your particular model will be updated, and the truth is that neither we nor practically anyone else knows. Xiaomi usually follows a very illogical order, at least in practice, with its updates, skipping generations between one rollout and another.

Fortunately, there is a little trick that will allow you to force the search for updates on your Xiaomi, REDMI, or POCO and thus find out if you can already download HyperOS 2. You won’t have to install third-party applications, and in just a few minutes you could get a very pleasant surprise.

How to force download HyperOS 2 on your Xiaomi, REDMI, or POCO

Checking if your Xiaomi has any pending updates and thus forcing a new search is very simple. To do this, we will simply have to follow these steps without the need to install third-party applications:

  1. Go to Settings > About phone
  2. Once inside, click on the HyperOS logo and then perform a new search using the Check for Updates button as shown in the image.

If the system fails to find new updates, there is a little trick that can force us to download HyperOS 2 on our Xiaomi. This is achieved by changing the region of our smartphone, then returning to our correct region and thus performing the steps of the update search again. In HyperOS 1 this trick worked for many, and in HyperOS 2 it seems to be repeated. To change the region of your Xiaomi, just:

  1. Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Region.
  2. In this section we change, for example, to Andorra or India and then return to our correct region.
  3. Next, we repeat the previous steps to check if there are any pending updates.

In this simple way, and in just a few minutes, we can force the download of HyperOS 2 on our Xiaomi if it is already available, regardless of whether it is in the Stable or Stable Beta phase.
