Before you install the Android 14 update, here are a few things you need to keep in mind.

  • Make a backup of all your data that is present on your device to either a cloud storage service like Google Drive or to your PC.
  • All of your data will be erased when you are sideloading the developer preview (NA for OTA)
  • Since it’s a very first build, there can be bugs that range from minor issues to ones that could be unbearable.
  • Keep a copy of the latest stable version of Android for your device available. You might need to roll back to it if things go bad.
  • Beta is available only for Google Pixel devices starting from Pixel 4a 5G and all the devices released including the Pixel 7 Pro.
  • If you are going to use the OTA image, unlocking the bootloader is recommended
