Honor Play 50 & Play 50m Launched In China

Honor has quietly released both the Honor Play 50 and the Honor Play 50m. Both phones have comparable specs and basic setups, but their pricing couldn’t be more different. Now we will get into the details.

There is a lot of visual and functional overlap between the Honor Play 50 and the Play 50m. Having said that, the color selections are provided differently to them.

Honor Play 50 & Play 50m Specs

Star Purple, Black Jade Green, and Magic Night Black are more varied color options on the Play50, whilst Magic Night Black and Sky Blue are more traditional on the Play 50m. Their weight is about 190 grams, and their dimensions are 163.59 x 75.33 x 8.39 mm, which is not unexpected given their same design.

With a refresh rate of up to 90Hz and a 6.56-inch waterdrop TFT LCD screen, the phones provide fluid graphics for regular usage. The screen also has a resolution of 720 x 1612.

The internals of the Play 50 and Play 50m are identical, including the Android 14–based MagicOS 8.0 system and the Dimensity 6100+ CPU. For general use and light gaming, this setup should have more than enough power.

Regarding the camera, the Honor Play series maintains a minimalist approach. The main camera on the rear is 13 megapixels, while the front-facing selfie camera has 5 megapixels. These won’t blow your mind with their photographic capabilities, but they’ll do the job for casual video chats and photos.

A large 5200mAh battery keeps everything running, which should be more than enough for most people’s needs throughout the day. The bare minimum charging speed that Honor is providing for its smartphones is 10W.

Honor Play 50 & Play 50m Price

Where the Honor Play 50 and Play 50m diverge is in their respective prices. The Play 50 is priced at 1199 yuan (~ $165) for a 6GB+128GB configuration and 1399 yuan (~ $194) for an 8GB+256GB variant.

Starting at 1499 yuan (~$207) for the 6GB+128GB model, the Honor Play 50m goes up to 1899 yuan (~$262) for the 8GB+256GB variant.
