The camera remains the standout feature of every Pixel smartphone, and the newly launched Pixel 9 series is no exception. Google has rolled out the Pixel 9 lineup with several advanced camera functionalities powered by the updated Pixel Camera 9.5 app (previously known as the Google Camera app).
Pixel Camera 9.5 App Available for Download
With the release of the new Pixel 9 phones to reviewers and testers, the latest Pixel Camera 9.5 app has been extracted and uploaded on APKMirror. While it isn’t available on the Play Store yet, the app is expected to roll out to compatible devices in the coming days. It will be interesting to see which of these new features will be extended to older Pixel models.
Key Updates
According to the team at 9to5Google, who tested the new app on the Pixel 8 Pro, there are several notable updates in the Pixel Camera 9.5 app:
- New Timer Option: The app introduces a new 5-second timer option, sitting between the existing 3-second and 10-second timers, providing more flexibility for capturing timed shots.
- Guided Frame Accessibility Feature: A significant addition is the Guided Frame feature, which aids users in framing their shots more accurately. This accessibility feature can be toggled on or off in the camera app’s settings.
- Additional Accessibility Features: The app brings a suite of accessibility improvements, including Magnifier 2.0 and other enhancements aimed at making photography easier for all users.
Upcoming Features for Older Devices
Some of the newer features, such as the redesigned panorama mode, Add Me, Night Sight mode for video recording, and 8K video boost, are not yet available for older Pixel models. These advanced features are expected to be rolled out in the future through a Pixel Drop feature update, potentially expanding their availability across more devices.
