Early this week, Google released the long-awaited Chromecast with Google TV Android 14 Update. Back in May 2024, Google had promised this update for the device, which is no longer available for purchase. However, it took 10 months to release the major software upgrade to the streaming device.
Google pushes the anticipated software upgrade to the Chromecast with Google TV with UTTC.241218.004 build number. It is a big upgrade and comes with a download size of around 809MB. The rollout is already reaching many users, I received it on my Chromecast yesterday.

Talking about the features, the update will bump up the software version from Android 12 to Android 14. If you use the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote, you can now use the Find My Remote and Customizable Button. The update is based on the January 2025 security patch.
As per the release notes, the Chromecast with Google TV Android 14 Update comes with system stability and improvements. However, user reports suggest a different experience after upgrading to Android 14.
Some users report that external drives and USB devices no longer function, the Low Power warning is triggered sometimes, inability to capture screenshots, problems with USB debugging, and more.
