Apple iPhone 17 may feature a 24MP selfie camera

Exciting updates have emerged about the latest Apple Phone 17. An analyst has shared some exciting information about the front-facing camera of the upcoming 2025 iPhone. According to reports, the camera is set to receive a significant upgrade compared to the current generation of models. Now, let’s take a closer look.

As per a recent report on Medium, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that Apple is preparing for a significant enhancement to the front-facing camera on the iPhone 17. Reports suggest that the upcoming iPhone will come with an impressive 24-megapixel sensor. This represents a significant upgrade compared to the previous versions, which only provided a 12-megapixel front-facing camera. Simply put, the pixel count of the camera on the iPhone 17 is twice as much as that of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15.

Ming-Chi Kuo also mentions that the enhanced resolution will provide crisper images with greater detail. However, the increase in megapixels is not the only change being discussed. According to the analyst, Apple is considering a shift to a six-element lens. This feature enables the image sensor to automatically correct distortions, resulting in more precise and accurate images. In addition, the selfie camera’s low-light performance will also experience significant enhancements, although these improvements do come with a price.

A Taiwanese company named Yujingguang will supply the lens system for the iPhone 17, according to Kuo. According to his statement, the cost of the selfie camera on the iPhone 15 will be significantly higher, ranging from 100 to 120 percent more expensive than the 5P lens system. So, it’s safe to assume that the pricing of the iPhone 17 will mirror the added expenses. In our recent reports, we also discussed the possibility of a 48-megapixel telephoto lens being included on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Rumors are circulating that Apple will begin production of the iPhone 17 series in India. Lastly, there have been rumors circulating about the iPhone 17 Pro models potentially incorporating under-display Face ID technology.
