The latest version of Android Auto 14.0 update is now rolling out to all users after a short testing period. The rollout has just begun, and it may take a few weeks for a full rollout.
As the update brings a new version number, many users will think that it will include many changes and features. However, the reality is that the Android Auto 14.0 update doesn’t bring any noticeable changes.
Features and Changes in the Android Auto 14.0 Update
The latest Android Auto 14.0 update hints at several upcoming features, including the replacement of Google Assistant with Google Gemini. There are traces of Google Gemini in the code strings and image assets of the update.
Here are the code strings that hint at the upcoming Gemini release in update. Thanks to the 9to5Google team for sharing these code strings.
<string name=”assistant_education_tooltip_gemini_upgrade”>Gemini is now the personal AI assistant in your car</string>
<string name=”assistant_summarization_quick_feedback_prompt”>How was the message summary content?</string>
<string name=”csat_survey_question_gemini”>How satisfied were you with Gemini in Android Auto today?</string>
<string name=”csat_survey_question_voice_subjourney”>What was your primary goal for using voice interaction in Android Auto today? Select the task that had the biggest impact on your satisfaction.</string>
<string name=”gemini_quick_feedback_prompt”>How was your Gemini experience?</string>
Although the Android Auto 14.0 update includes a hint for Gemini support as the default assistant, the feature isn’t yet live. Google has already started replacing Google Assistant with Gemini on phones, so this isn’t unexpected. Gemini will soon replace Google Assistant in almost every Android-powered device.
Along with the replacement of the personal assistant, Google is also planning to release other features, including climate control support. This means the app will have access to air conditioning controls.
None of these features are currently live. These might be included in one of the Android Auto 14 updates, which could take some time since the current update rollout will take about a few weeks.
This could have been a great update to release some cool features like Gemini as the assistant. However, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to witness some impressive new features in Android Auto 14.0 update.
