The Middle Ages are depicted in the second Age of Empires installment, while the early modern period is depicted in the third installment.

There have been roughly eight games in the series between 1997 and 2020, the most recent being Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, which was published in November of 2020. After the popularity of previous versions, it’s no surprise that the franchise is introducing the next game in the series as AOE 4.

Age of Empires IV Release Date

The game’s fourth iteration was revealed in 2017 and has been in production ever since. A fan preview was just provided, and the game’s release date was confirmed to be Fall 2021. On Windows PCs, the game will be accessible on Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Age of Empires 4 Gameplay

The game will feature eight civilizations, four of which have already been revealed: the English, Mongols, Delhi Sultanate, and Chinese. There are four epochs to choose from: Dark, Feudal, Castle, and Imperial.

The Sultanate of Delhi and the Mongol Empire are now playable civilizations. You may now employ elephants to assault your opponent’s civilizations while playing as the Delhi Sultanates. Meanwhile, the Mongols will continue their nomadic lifestyle by moving to a newer stone pile to establish their civilisation. In addition, Mongolian archers may now fire at any angle while on the run.

As shown in the fan preview, the Mongolian hero troops appear to have new special powers. They have the ability to light blue fireworks, which might indicate that they have unique skills or powers. With all of each civilization’s advancements and features, you may now deploy archers directly on top of castle walls, something never seen before in the Age of Empire series.

Campaign Modes

The Norman Campaign is the only campaign mode that has been confirmed thus far. This campaign mode invites you to battle for the throne and control of all of England and France. Three other campaign modes are still to be disclosed.

Update June 14th: Release date, minimum system requirements, and pre-order

Xbox One Studios announced the release date for Age of Empires IV during the Xbox and Bethesda E3 presentation. On October 28th, 2021, the game will be published. The game is currently available for pre-order on both Steam and the Microsoft Store. There have also been disclosed the minimal PC requirements. A machine with an Intel i5 6300U processor, 8 GB of RAM, and Intel HD 500 graphics or greater should be capable of running the game. The game is roughly 93 GB in size.

Fans of Age of Empire have varied feelings on the game. There are a few problems with the visuals, as well as the equipment and weapons used being reduced. The materials appear to have reduced in size, especially when looking at the 2019 gameplay releases. There also seems to be issues with how the arrows appear to be shooting, which does not appear natural. On the plus side, roads are now automatically built, and when you enhance a structure, it and its surrounds are upgraded as well, which is quite excellent for a city-building game in 2021.

When there are a few stutters in the gameplay, it’s a major letdown or cause for concern. As of present, the recommended and minimum system requirements are unclear.

Given that the game is still in its alpha stage, it is impossible to assess solely on the first gameplay footage that has been released. Rest assured that if you wish to stay up to date on the game’s progress and enhancements, the closed beta will be accessible shortly.
