Google has released a new September 2023 Security Patch update for Pixel Phones, which also includes the most recent Android security patch for the month of September 2023. The new version is based on Android 13 (version). It seems as though we will all have to wait a little longer for the official Android 14 upgrade, which I am sure is something that everyone is anxiously anticipating at this point.
At the beginning of this month, a stable build of Android 14 was scheduled to be made available for Pixel phones that qualified. However, the Android 14 release was apparently pushed back to the next month at the very last moment. We should anticipate the formal release of Android 14 before Google’s event to introduce the Pixel 8 on October 4; the event is scheduled for Google.
The latest Pixel update is available to Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a (5G), Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 7a with build number TQ3A.230901.001 globally. The build numbers are different for Pixel Tablet (TQ3A.230901.001.B1) and Pixel Fold (TQ3C.230901.001.A1). The new update build number is different for different carriers as well.
note the new September 2023 Security Patch update for Pixel Phones begins Monday and may take a week or two to spread out.
This is a monthly update that brings the September 2023 security patch update for Pixel phones. There are no specific Pixel device fixes in this update. Here’s the official changelog statement
“The September 2023 update includes security patches for Pixel users. See the Android Security bulletin and the Pixel Security bulletin for details.”
This should be Pixel phones’ last Android 13 upgrade before Android 14. The update requires an Android 13 build, therefore if you installed the Android 14 beta, it won’t appear.
Pixel phone owners will receive this update over the air. You can install it through the Settings’ Software Update page.
